There seems to be a great buzz around Exalogic and Exadata - the latest offering of 'complete' solution products from Oracle. What makes it so special? As most people know, it combines hardware and software. Is it just that ? I would disagree. I consider the most outstanding factor is the 'Engineered'. If we just throw bunch of hardware and software into a rack, it does not automatically start super performing. What makes Exalogic, outstanding in performance is the engineering that has gone into it. Exalogic Machines comes with three different Hardware architecture options - quarter rack, half rack or full rack. All of these architectures have the same components but would differ in quantity.
